Where Does Nebraska Get Its Money?

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am rather shocked to discover that Nebraska receives so very much of its budget from the Federal government. Silly, silly me. So much for state sovereignty…

Seems rather curious that our Governor has been complaining about the acceptance of federal funds recently…

Wow…Nebraska gets 38% of its budget from the Feds?

This is a multi-year chart:

The bar graph may be difficult to see clearly. Note that the bottom part of each bar is labeled “State Taxes”, the top “Cash and Federal Funds”.

The source of this information is the State Treasurer’s website Nebraska Spending. These two graphics came from THIS page.
